Blue Oasis detailed at official site

Fish carnage and reproduction promised for new download-only title

Hudson's mysterious new WiiWare title Blue Oasis was on the receiving end of some much needed details recently via an official website.

The download-only title offers players a chance to create their own virtual aquarium. According to the site, players will be able to freely place objects like stones and plants in their aquarium and also set lighting and backgrounds. The game will have support for up to six aquariums.

Hudson is preparing 40 fish types for the title. You won't have to worry about such complicated matters as water temperature, though, even when selecting fish from different habitats. Your primary concerns appear to be feeding the fish and observing them by using the Wiimote to tap your virtual glass.

There are a few things to keep in mind, though. Individual fish prefer different feed types, so you'll have to pay attention to who's eating what. You also need to be careful when placing small fish in a tank with large fish, as some fish cannibalism could result.

Put together a successful aquarium, and your fish will grow with time. You may even see your tank's population grow as your fish have fish sex and produce fishlings.

For those who like to let it all hang loose every now and then, the game lets you set a commemorative day for your aquarium. On that day, your fish will celebrate by performing a cute little dance. You can set up to three commemorative days.

Those who take the opportunity to create a worthy aquarium will have a means of showing it off to their friends. The title supports Wii Connect 24, allowing you to distribute your creations to members of your friend list.

Wii owners will find Blue Oasis waiting for them on the Wii Shopping Channel on June 24. Hudson is asking 500 Wii Points. While a virtual aquarium sounds like a perfect chance for microtransactions, Hudson has not yet announced any item downloads for the title.
