Beats hits PSP next week

Downloadable rhythm game gets new name for Japan

A new entry in that small lineup of downloadable original PlayStation Portable games is set to hit the PlayStation Store next week as Sony Computer Entertainment Japan (SCEJ) gives a Japanese release to Beats. Here in Japan, the game will be known as Shouten Beat.

Developed by SCE Studios London, Shouten Beat is a rhythm action that makes use of the music collection from your Memory Stick Duo. The game converts your music files into timing-based levels for two modes of play, My Music Challenge and Jam Session. The latter is compatible with four player ad-hoc play.

Shouten Beat will be available for download on June 19 at 800 yen.
