Square Enix planning Summer demo event

Invite only for the latest glimpse at Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy

The Square Enix Party tradition continues, only this time you're gonna have to be mighty lucky to get in. The company announced today the DKΣ3713 event (that's a "sigma" in the middle, for those who stopped taking math in junior high), a summer event that will offer new glimpses at Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts.

Set to be held on August 2 and 3 at the Harajuku Quest Hall in Tokyo's trendy Harajuku shopping district, the free DKΣ3713 event will offer video and playable demos for Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Final Fantasy Agito XIII, Kingdom Hearts Coded, Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep, Dissidia Final Fantasy, The 3rd Birthday (this is the new Parasite Eve game for cell phones), Sigma Harmonics, and Final Fantasy VII Advent Children Complete.

The company hasn't revealed what will be playable and what will be video-only. It is likely that at least Dissidia and 358/2 Days will be playable, as both appeared in a playable state at last year's Jump Festa.

This event is a bit different from past Square Enix Party events. Those events were held at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba and open to all. This time around, Square Enix is keeping things small. Each day of the DKΣ3713 event will have three time slots, from 10:00 to 13:00, 13:00 to 16:00, and 17:00 to 20:00. Four hundred people will be allowed into each time slot.

A little math (which you should be able to do even without knowing how to read "sigma") will tell you that just 2,400 people will be able to take part in this event.

If you're getting your camping gear ready, stop! This event is invite-only. Square Enix will take applications for the event at the [a href=http://member.square-enix.com/jp/]Square Enix Members site[/a] from June 23 to July 13.
