Square Enix planning game announcement in virtual world
Members of the Square Enix Members fan site to be witness to new title unveiling.
Worlds will collide in early July as Square Enix tries something new in its Members Virtual World 3D space. The company today announced plans for a game announcement event, to be held in the virtual space in early July and attended by a select few members.
Square Enix's Members Virtual World is a 3D virtual world exclusively accessible by members of the Square Enix Members fan club. Players make use of a personalized avatar to navigate through the virtual world, which has been designed in the theme of a town from the company's Wii Chocobo Mysterious Dungeon title.
This unique event, titled Theater Special Preview, will be held on July 8. Only 800 people will be admitted. Square Enix will select participants via raffle from applications received between June 12 and June 23.
The timing of the event coincides with an update to the world which adds new areas and chat features. Also included in the update is a new theater area which allows users to view streaming footage of new Square Enix titles. The announcement event will presumably use this theater functionality.
