Dragon Ball Z tops software charts
PS3 version beats Fuurai no Shiren 3 in first week.
Following last week's 50-50 split between Nintendo and Sony platforms, Nintendo took back the lead in the Media Create top 10 software chart this week, covering June 2 to June 8.
But the PS3 had the top spot all to itself as Dragon Ball Z Burst Limit debuted at 92,298 units. The Xbox 360 version also debuted this week, placing 12th.
Sega and Chunsoft's Wii sequel in the Mysterious Dungeon Shiren series, Fuurai no Shiren 3, debuted in second place with 59,283 units. It was followed by last week's top placer, Jikkyou Powerful Pro Baseball Portable 3 for the PSP, which sold an additional 42,673 units this week, and Mario Kart Wii, which continues to show its legs with 38,856 units.
Another newbie, Tecmo's DS Misa Yamamura Suspense, placed fifth with 38,122 units.
The top ten closed off with Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G (Capcom, PSP, 35,185 units), Wii Fit (Nintendo, Wii, 33,595), Ninja Gaiden 2 (Tecmo, Xbox 3650, 24,570), Family Trainer (Namco Bandai, 15,405), and DS Bimoji Training (Nintendo, DS, 15,391). Of these, Ninja Gaiden 2 was new for the week.
Outside of the 360 version of Dragon Ball Z Burst Limit, just one game debuted outside the top ten. Namco Bandai's 99 Tears, a female-oriented DS title that encourages players to cry in order to relieve stress, debuted at 22.
With the top selling game for the period shipping on a Blu-ray disc, PS3 got a slight bump to 10,856 units for the week. That wasn't enough to change the overall order, though. PSP was in top once again with 62,016 units, besting the Wii's 44,639 and the DS Lite's 35,020. Below the PS3 were the PS2 at 6,279 units and the Xbox 360 at 2,280 units.
