Sunsoft planning WiiWare manga download service
Company signs Reiji Matsumoto to create original manga
Nintendo fans who love comics and are looking forward to am3's upcoming DS Vision multimedia download service have something to look forward to on the Wii as well. Sun Denshi announced today plans for a digital comic service to be distributed through Nintendo's WiiWare download channel.
Sun Denshi will be establishing a new Sunsoft Books brand to handle the new comic service, which it plans to start up in the summer. WiiWare users will view manga for the service by using a special viewer application developed internally by Sun Denshi.
To kick off the program, Sun will be teaming up with Leiji Matsumoto, the famous manga artist known for such titles as Space Battleship Yamato. Matsumoto is developing an original comic that will be distributed through the WiiWare service.
Separate from the manga download service, Sun says that it hopes to expand the new Matsumoto property to games, anime, books and more in the future.
