G8 Diplomats get special DS units
New candidate for rarest videogame thing ever
Did this week's news of Nintendo's offer of 3,000 limited edition DS Lite units get you giddy? Then you'd better sit down for this one.
Nikkan Sports and Sankei News report today that the Kyoto state Guest House, which opened up the 2008 G8 Foreign Minsters Meeting in Kyoto today, gave all the attending diplomats a special DS system as a welcoming gift following an opening ceremony. The red-orange lacquered system included copies of Brain Age (the English version of Nou wo Kitaeru Otona no DS Training).
Also included in the gift set was a print seal with avatar versions of all the participating diplomats. It's unclear if these were "Mii" style avatars or something unrelated.
In addition to being home of the summit, Kyoto is also home to Nintendo's main office and development studio.
