Metal Gear Solid 4 tops three million
Two weeks to triple platinum for the PS3 exclusive.
The biggest PS3 game yet in Japan ain't doing too shabby throughout the rest of the world. Metal Gear Solid 4 has topped the three million mark in worldwide shipments, just two weeks after its June 14 release.
Sony Computer Entertainment president Kaz Hirai let this little bit slip in passing today during a speech at a Sony strategy briefing in Tokyo.
A bit more locally, Hirai also made note of the the eight-fold increase in hardware sales that the PS3 experienced here in Japan the week of Metal Gear Solid 4's release.
Konami hasn't released actual worldwide sales for the game but independent tracking firms place the Japanese version at above the 500,000 mark and the European version above the million mark.
