Street Fighter IV card system detailed
Capcom confirms group rankings and unveils the sf4.jp portal site.
With just a couple of weeks to go until final release, Capcom has started getting into specifics on the card system that will be used in Street Fighter IV's arcade version.
SFIV is compatible with the NESYS Card System, a system that connects arcade games with the internet. Players will be able to make use of NESYS Cards to save their stats, including winning record, winning percentage, winning streak, perfect win count, and more. Those who play the game using an NESYS card earn Battle Points for every win. These are used in player rankings.
To connect to the NESYS system, players will have to connect to the sf4.jp mobile portal site, which lets you view records and also record personal information, including a self-introduction that's displayed during versus matches.
Capcom is working on some promotional plans involving the NESYS. By collecting virtual stamps from arcade outlets, players can earn original wallpapers for their cell phone. The NESYS system also stores a "Zenny" point count. Each time you play the game, you earn these points, which can be traded for special badges and in-game clothing for your characters.
While Capcom didn't get too specific on the Zenny rewards, it did share a small teaser screen of Chun Li wearing new black clothing.
The NESYS system will also give SFIV new team play options. Players can create guilds, setting up a name, flag and special group introduction text. Rankings for SFIV will also be held on the guild level.
Capcom will be selling four types of Street Fighter IV NESYS IC cards immediately after the game hits arcades. It plans on increasing the variations in the future.
