Sakura Taisen 3 gets bonus in budget edition

Sega including special art book.

Paris will burn on the PS2 one more time as Sega brings Sakura Taisen 3 back to the platform later this year in budget form. The company announced today a Sega the Best version of the third entry in the popular franchise for release on October 23 at 2,800 yen.

More than the actual budget re-release, the big news here is what's being included. Sega will be bundling in art book with the game. Titled "Sakura Taisen Paris Hanagumi Memorial Art Book," the book includes illustrations from series artists Fujishima Kousuke and Hidenori Matsubara. Fans can expect a bit of nostalgia, as included in the image list is artwork from magazine covers at the time of the original releases.

Released first on the Dreamcast in 2001, then ported to the PlayStation 2 in 2005, Sakura Taisen 3 took the popular Red Entertainment/Sega co-production away from Tokyo to Paris for the first time (the series would later cross the Atlantic for the New York-based part 5). Players once again take control of Ichiro Okami, but this time oversee the Paris division of the "Hanagumi" fighting force in strategy-based battles.
