Capcom details Dead Rising control scheme

Waggle and pointing for Dead Rising port.

Capcom promised special Wiimote controls for the Wii version of Dead Rising, but did not initially get into the specifics. Those details came today.

The Wiimote motion-based controls appear to be close to what one might have expected. When using a gun as a weapon, you use the device to directly aim and shoot at enemies. When aiming, your targeting reticle will turn red to indicate that you've targeted the zombie's weak point and can attain massive damage. Reloading is done by simply shaking the Wiimote.

Shooting

Some weapons can be used with a targeting scope. Here, you move the viewpoint around with the nunchuck analog stick and zoom in and out with Z and C.

Dead Rising is known for its wide variety of weapons, including bats, benches, shopping carts, swords, and chain saws. You can switch off easily between all your weapons using the d-pad as hot keys.

Shaking

Some of these weapons use motion controls. With the bat, for instance, you can shake the Wiimote to build up a gauge for a home run swing.

Swinging

Wiimote waggle is also put to use when you get grabbed by zombies. To shake yourself free, you shake the device.
