While most are likely willing to accept that Mega Man fights just because he can, Capcom has actually provided a pretty specific reason in Mega Man 9. The Blue Bomber's gotta get Dr. Light outta the slammer!

Capcom has shared the specifics regarding the storyline for the upcoming WiiWare download.

The story begins after Mega Man has apparently restored peace to the world. In comes the shocking news that robots have gone berserk throughout the world. Surely this is the work of Dr. Wiley, everyone thinks.

The mad professor has a different opinion, though. He jacks into the television waves and frames Dr. Light as the perpetrator. Soon Light is lead away to jail by the police.

Only Rockman can restore Dr. Light's honor! ""Rise in order to stop Dr. Wiley's ambition," closes off the game's Japanese-language opening, confirming that the "ambition" mentioned in the game's Japanese title is indeed Wiley's.

First, something must be done about those mad robots, says Mega Man.

Mega Man 9 hits WiiWare this September. Prior to the release, the game will go on playable demo one more time at the upcoming Rockman Summer Festival, which is being held this Sunday in Odaiba.
