Sony Computer Entertainment shared today final details on the domestic launch of the PSP-3000, the redesigned PSP unit that features a brighter screen and built in microphone.
The new model will see release on October 16. As previously announced, the product will be available in Piano Black, Pearl White, and Mystic Silver varieties.
Sony will offer the system two packages. A 19,800 yen solo unit will be on offer, bundling an AC adapter and 1200mAh battery with the hardware. Sony will also offer a 24,800 yen Value Pack, which adds a pouch, strap, cloth and a 4 gigabyte Memory Stick Pro Duo (Mark2). These prices are the same as current PSP-2000 pricing.
Shortly after the October 16 launch of these two base models, Sony will begin offering the PSP-3000 as part of software bundles. A Gundam VS Gundam pack will be released on November 20, combining the base PSP system with Bandai Namco's Gundam VS Gundam, all for 24,840 yen. November 27 will see a Patapon 2 bundle which includes Sony's own Patapon 2 in a 23,800 yen bundle. December 18 will see a bundle for Dissidia Final Fantasy at 25,890 yen.
For the Dissidia bundle, Square Enix originally announced that the included system would be a special design. The Gundam VS Gundam PSP unit will also be an original design, Sony announced today, although it did not share images of the new designs.
The new hardware will be joined by a series of accessories. A 2,200mAh battery pack will be released in Pearl White and Mystic Silver varieties, priced at 5,500 yen. A cradle, compatible with both the PSP-2000 and PSP-3000, will sell for 4,800 yen and will also be bundled with a D-cable for 6,500 yen. Sony has marked these accessories for a 10/16 release, although it's unclear if they hold any differences from current similar first party accessories.
Sony is also releasing a couple of pouches on the 16th. A Piano Black nylon and polyester pouch will sell for 1,800 yen. A similar pouch designed to match the Pearl White and Mystic Silver systems will be released at the same price.
