Xbox 360 tops PS3 in Media Create charts for second week in a row
Pokemon Platinum remains at the top
Pokemon Platinum remained at the top of the latest Media Create charts in a week of few major releases. In hardware, the 360 once again topped the PS3.
Platinum sold 314,796 units this week, taking it above the 1,200,000 mark. It beat one major new release: Dragon Ball DS. Heavily promoted through television ads and even a Minna no DS Channel demo, Dragon Ball DS (known as Dragon Ball: Origins overseas) sold 72,330 units in its first week.
A new title was sandwiched between a couple of older games. Rhythm Tengoku Gold continued to show its legs, managing third place this week with 63,446 units. Trusty Bell made its debut on the PS3 this week in fourth place with 34,067 units. Quiz Magic Academy DS sold 29,305 units in its second week.
The rest of the top ten was a mix of old and new. Wii Fit (Nintendo, Wii) took sixth with 28,466 units, besting Katei Kyoshi Hitman Reborn! Battle Arena (Marvelous Entertainment, PSP) at 24,812 units, Way of the Samurai Portable (Spike, PSP) at 17,228 units, One Piece Unlimited Cruise: Episode 1 (Bandai Namco, Wii) at 15,258 units, and Mario Kart Wii (Nintendo, Wii) at 13,892 units. Way of the Samurai and Katei Kyoshi were new.
In hardware, DS took the top spot yet again with 61,242 units. Wii rose just a tad from last week to 29,921 units as the PSP fell to 28,674 units.
The bottom three had the 360 at the top with 13,777 units -- a drop from last week's 28,188 units that accompanied the triple punch of a price drop, a 60 gigabyte hardware revision, and a major Square Enix RPG. PS3 remained level with last week at 8,156 units. At the bottom of the pack was the PS2 with 7,720 units.
