Konami considering Metal Gear Solid 4 for Xbox 360 -- report

Company looking into much requested multiplatform move.

Konami is considering releasing an Xbox 360 version of Metal Gear Solid 4, according to a report from investment research firm Morningstar today.

In a general article covering multiplatform trends at the Tokyo Game Show, the firm quotes a representative from Konami's public relations office as saying of MGS4, "We're actively looking into a release for the Xbox 360."

At the Tokyo Game Show, the focus of the Metal Gear series was on Metal Gear Online, which saw the playable debut of the new "MEME" expansion pack. Metal Gear Solid 4 was also highlighted at the event through a display thanking players for making it the number one selling PlayStation 3 so far in Japan.

Outside of the Konami booth, TGS saw another former PlayStation brand title make the switch to multiplatform as Microsoft announced at a keynote address on the show's opening day an Xbox 360 release of Tekken 6. That title will hit both the PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2009.

The Morningstar report also includes a few more general quotes about multiplatform trends from other publishers. A Square Enix representative told the firm, "We'd like to pursue worldwide and multiplatform development as much as possible."
