Look everyone! It's the Grand Theft Auto IV truck!
I saw this touring the streets of Shibuya today, one day ahead of GTAIV's release.
This isn't the first time a video game has been featured on the side of a truck. Long time readers who were reading my blog before it actually went live (what the!?) will remember this from the MGS4 launch:
If I had to rate trucks, I'd give the MGS4 truck a 93 (maybe 95) and the GTAIV truck somewhere in the 45 and 47 range. The MGS4 truck had a unique shape, and with that yellow cabin, made me want to add it to my collection of MGS4 paraphernalia. The GTA4 truck is... well, just a truck with a couple of signs on it.
GTA4 is certainly deserving of its very own truck. Tsutaya's Taketo Matsuo, in his latest column at Mainichi.jp, says he expects the PS3 version to top the sales charts this week, beating Chocobo, Valkyrie Profile, and Avalon Code on the DS.
He actually expects the new 80 gigabyte PS3, which comes bundled with Gran Turismo 5 Prologue Spec III, to help give the game a push. I wonder if it's the other way around.
Outside of the truck, Capcom has been advertising GTAIV pretty heavily on the late night airwaves. I'll post the two spots I've seen shortly.
