Metal Gear Online tops one million accounts
Free reward points simply for logging in.
Konami announced today that Metal Gear Online has topped the one million account mark worldwide. The feat comes four months following the game's June release.
Metal Gear Online was first released as an online component to Metal Gear Solid 4, but has since been released on its own. Taking place in the world of the single-player MGS4, MGO splits 16 players into teams for online combat.
The title already saw one expansion pack, titled Gene Expansion, on June 17. The next one, Meme Expansion, is due for release this month following its playable debut at the Tokyo Game Show.
To commemorate this feat, Konami announced today the Metal Gear Online Registered Worldwide Users Crosses One Million! Commemoration Campaign. During a campaign period lasting from November 25 through December 9, Konami will reward all players who access MGO 10,000 reward points.
Furthermore, players will have a chance at winning 100,000 reward points. Konami will hand out this great prize to 30 people, 10 from North America, 0 from Europe, and 10 from Japan, via a raffle.
The 10,000 reward points will be added to accounts on December 9. The 100,000 points, for the few who are lucky-enough to win, will be added on December 16.
