Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles gets DSi hardware bundle and pre-order bonus

White DSi bundle to ship with DS version.

Square Enix appears to be on somewhat of a roll with the DSi hardware bundles. Exactly one week after announcing a bundle for Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, the RPG giant announced today a similar bundle for Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Echoes of Time.

The standard DS version of the latest entry in the Crystal Chronicles series will be joined by a limited edition named Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Echoes of Time Crystal Chronicles Edition. This special edition includes a copy of the DS rev of Echoes of Time and a special Crystal Chronicles Edition of the DSi hardware. Pricing for the bundle is set at 23,940 yen.

As with last week's Kingdom Hearts hardware bundle, Square Enix didn't get around to actually sharing the design of the hardware. It did offer a description, however, stating that the system will be based off the DSi's white hardware, will have a "cat motif," and will house the game's logo.

This new installment in the Crystal Chronicles offshoot of the Final Fantasy series promises a similar action combat system as past entries. New features include swimming mechanics, Mii support, and cross-platform play between Wii and DS.

Joining this announcement, Square Enix also unveiled a pre-order bonus CD for the game. Composed, Arranged and Produced by Kumi Tanioka, the Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Sound Selection CD will include the following four tracks pulled from the Crystal Chronicles series:

  • Track 1: "Hateshinaki Sora" ("Endless Sky") from Crystal Chronicles (GameCube)
  • Track 2: "RoF Medley" from Ring of Fates (DS)
  • Track 3: "Main Theme" from Chiisa na Ousama to Yakusoku no Kuni (WiiWare)
  • Track 4: "Main Theme" from Echoes of Time.

Both the software-only and hardware bundle versions of Echoes of Time will be released on January 29. They will be joined on the same day by a Wii version of the game. Square Enix's announcement wasn't particularly clear on the matter, but it's presumable that all versions will include the pre-order bonus.
