Death Smiles Mega Black Label set for Xbox 360

Cave to offer arcade update as download content in Spring.

 

Death Smiles Mega Black Label will be coming to the Xbox 360 in the form of download content for the 360 version of Death Smiles. Both the package game and the download content will be available to Xbox 360 owners in Spring 2009.

Cave's Tsuneki Ikeda made the announcement today at Microsoft's Xbox 360 Shooting Festa event. Following a talk session with Death Smiles' director Junya Inoue, Ikeda introduced the changes being made for the 360 port, and announced the downloadable Mega Black Label content as a surprise.

The 360 version of Death Smiles is a port of an October 2007 vertical arcade shooter of the same name. Mega Black Label is the the latest update to the arcade title. It hit arcades in October.

Screenshots of the 360 version of Death Smiles, handed out by Cave today. The 360 version features improved visuals and co-op play over Xbox Live.

Details on how the download content will be offered were not provided.

In addition to the announcement of the Mega Black Label download content, Microsoft and Cave had one more surprise for attendees of the Shooting Festa event. The first playable demo of the 360 version of Death Smiles was brought out for play following the talk event. Long lines formed to sample the game for five minutes on four playable kiosks.
