Last Remnant character to feature in Lord of Vermilion update

New update set to hit arcades in January.

Square Enix will be giving Lord of Vermilion a new major update early next year, Famitsu.com revealed on Saturday. The update will be titled Lord of Vermilion: Aratanaru Taidou ("New Sign") and will hit arcades on January 13.

The last update Vermilion update, September's Kamigame he no Rihan, featured guest appearances by Valkyrie Profile characters. For this update, Square Enix has tapped into two properties for cameos.

Haou will be appearing from Last Remnant. In his Vermilion appearance, Haou makes use of powerful magic attacks, including a special attack that deals great levels of lightning damage. The Haou character is known as "The Conquerer" in the English versions of Last Remnant.

The second character is Kuro, who joins the game from Kurokami The Animation. This anime, which is set to be begin broadcast in January, is based off the Kurokami manga. In Vermilion, Kuro deals opponents light-based damage through a special attack.

Outside of these characters, the update will feature new magic cards and new equipment. The Famitsu.com story has a look at two of the new cards, Shigami (literally "Death God") and Lillith.

Also shown in the story is a new form of the Seraf card. The update will feature new versions of older cards. The card's name remains the same, aside from a descriptor included in brackets, but the new card has a different illustration, different abilities, and different special skills.
