Mistwalker's Cry On cancelled
AQ Interactive pulls the plug on vaporware project.
AQ Interactive announced today that it has cancelled Cry On, an Xbox 360 RPG that was first announced back in December 2005 at a press conference that also saw the unveiling of Vampire Rain and Bullet Witch.
According to a statement issued by the company, the cancelation was made after considering the current and upcoming state of the market.
Cry On received much attention at its announcement due to the involvement of Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey production house Mistwalker. Development on the title was to be taken on by Mistwalker and Cavia, with character designs by Kimihiko Fujisaka, music by Nobuo Uematsu, and Hironobu Sakaguchi serving as producer and scenario writer.
Aside from a few pieces of artwork, nothing was ever shown on the game. Sakaguchi shared a few comments with the Japanese media describing a game set in a world where people live amongst giant sand creatures.
Sakaguchi said at the time of the game's announcement that work on the game's scenario was 50% complete and suggested that development would take an additional 1.5 to 2 years.
