Konami holds Metal Gear Solid 4, Metal Gear Online screenshot contest

Hideo Kojima himself to pick the best pics.

Konami sent out notice today of the start of a screenshot contest for Metal Gear Solid 4 and Metal Gear Online. Participants have a chance at winning special prizes should their digital photography work catch the eye of director Hideo Kojima, Konami staff, and fellow game players.

To take part in the contest, players take screenshots of Metal Gear Solid 4 and Metal Gear Online using the games' in-game camera functionality. These shots can be submitted for consideration by posting a blog entry at the MGO Support Community Site. Further submission details can be found at the contest page off the Metal Gear Online official site.

Separate winners will be chosen for the Metal Gear Online and Metal Gear Solid 4 categories. Participants are permitted five screenshots for each category. Konami staff will filter through the screens in a first selection round. The final vote, however, will be given to users, with voting held from February 20 through March 3 at 16:00.

Joining the MGS4 and MGO prizes will be a Director's Special Prize. This will be chosen by Hideo Kojima himself from the entire pool of submissions.

The winner of any of the three prizes will get 10,000 reward points, an original weapon, a special card showing off their screen, and the honor of having their screen appear in an in-game magazine.

The winning screens will be announced on March 10, with the in-game magazine run going from March 10 at 18:00 to March 17 at 16:00.

The contest kicked off today and will run through February 6 at 16:00.

To encourage participation, Konami will be giving anyone who submits a picture for the contest 1,000 reward points. Additionally, anyone who logs in and votes for a picture during the voting period will get 200 points. Logging in is not required for voting, though.

Konami refers to this contest as "The first Screenshot Contest," suggesting that more such contest will be held in the future.
