Commercial Blast: Pre-release edition

The latest commercials for the latest games

While I wait for that darn Final Fantasy XIII trailer to drop in just a bit, I figured I'd share a few commercials. These are mostly for games that see release Thursday morning.

First up, a commercial that you've probably already seen (what a fantastic way to start off, Anoop -- wait a minute, why am I talking to myself?).

That's a commercial for Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time. As you might have read in this story on the main channel, the commercial features music by Aiko and Airi Taira in the role of the celebrity who plays the game (this is a common role in Nintendo's commercials). There are actually two commercials, the above spot featuring Airi in co-op play with other players, and one showing off solo play.

On the note of DSi (I think those are DSi units in the Echoes of Time spot), here's how Nintendo is marketing DSiWare:

This is actually the first time I've seen an actual commercial for DSi Ware. During Christmas, however, I did see this DSiWare billboard in Harajuku:

Next, keeping with the DS theme, here's an upcoming DS RPG:

That's a Shining Force Feather spot. I have my doubts about the Shining Force series nowadays, but I'll just bottle it in and move on to:

It's a Radiant Mythology 2 spot. This latest Tales series game is for the PSP rather than the DS. Also for the PSP is this:

That's Harvest Moon: Sugar Village and Everyone's Wish. It's due on March 19. I'm going to attempt to avoid playing it because Harvest Moon gameplay makes me want to kick little kids.

Also on the PSP is this:

That's "Your Memories Off Girl's Style," a PSP version of the Memories Off love sim series. The "Girl's Style" means its for girls, so you play as a girl and get to hit on a bunch of guys.

Along the same lines is this PS2 title:

Wow! Not a single word uttered in the entire ad, and just two animation frames rotating around. This is a commercial for Hakushaku to Yosei, a game conversion of an anime, novel and manga.

With all that boys love siming out of the way, let's get some real manly games in here. Check out these four:

From top to bottom, that's Ninja Blade (unfortunately with a time stamp!), Fist of the North Star Raou Gaiden, Hajime no Ippo DS, and Tomb Raider Underworld.

Finally, something that will presumably be one of Nintendo's biggest first quarter titles:

The commercial describes a girl who falls asleep on a train and sees a recurring dream of her smiling mother giving her an item of some form before being murdered. Following that, we see the girl getting a message from her father who says he wants to speak to her about her mom. "Why now?" the announcer asks.

Another Code R hits Wii on February 25.
