Microsoft ends Xbox repair support
Company offers free upgrade path to Xbox 360 for systems still covered by warranty.
Microsoft's latest announcement concerns that presumably small group of people that have a broken Xbox system sitting around. The company posted a notice today at the Xbox.com website formally announcing that it will cease domestic repair support on the original Xbox as of March 2.
This policy will apply only to those users with an Xbox system whose warranty has expired. Users who need repair service for a system that's still under warranty following the March 2 cutoff date will be offered a means of upgrading to the Xbox 360 for free.
Even after the March 2 date, Microsoft will continue to offer technical support for the platform via the Xbox Support Website. Those needing to make use of Microsoft's offer for an upgrade to the Xbox 360 will need to do so through this site.
