Yakuza 3 ties up with cell phone karaoke provider
Users can access Toshihiro Nagoshi avatars
Sega's latest promotion for Ryu ga Gotoku 3 (Yakuza 3) differs from past tie-ups in that it's strictly within the family. Gotoku 3 will be part of a collaboration with Sega's own karaoke mobile site Hitokara, the company announced today.
Started in September 2007, Hitokara offers over 43,000 full chorus karaoke songs for free to cell phone users. Sega cites a membership total of 1.8 million as of January.
The collaboration will take three forms.
For a limited time, users of the Hitokara service will have access to Gotoku-themed avatars based off main character Kazuma Kiryu, heroine Haruka, and even producer Toshihiro Nagoshi.
Additionally, starting on the 26th, the Hitokara serivce will take delivery of the Gotoku 3 theme song Loser along with other songs from Eikichi Yazawa. Two songs from the game's in-game karaoke shop will also be available download. These last two will be exclusive through Hitokara.
Sega will also be staging a campaign that will reward five lucky fans with a set of five Gotoku 3 collaboration items: the Loser theme song CD, the Ryu ga Gotoku 3 Original Soundtrack, two packs of the game's Kyushu Ichibanboshi ramen, two packets of the game's Ryukyucho Shugo Densetsu health supplement, and a NESTA X Ryu ga Gotoku 3 t-shirt. These collaborations were all detailed in the past.
