Go To Top

Back at the release of Ryu ga Gotoku 2, I put up a story on IGN Insider showing off how close the game's Kamiyacho compares to Shinjuku's Kabukicho, the place off which it was based. I no longer have a girlfriend who can protect me from Kabukicho's gangsters, so I probably won't repeat that feature here. But, I will on occasion be showing some sample pics of:

REAL

VS

GOTOKU

Let's beginning with the "real":

That's the Pronto in Shibuya, in the heart of Center-gai. My friend and part time lover Sharan treated me to appetizers here before he departed Japan for his native U.K. following last year's TGS. Little did we were dining in a foreshadow of the new Gotoku game...

... which brings us to the "gotoku":

As close as the two shots look, I'm doing Gotoku 3 a disservice by having taken that pic with an iPhone. Also, the Gotoku Pronto is presumably based off the Shinjuku Pronto which is in the heart of Kabukicho. I bet real life ass has been kicked in front of that shop by real life yakuza.

Speaking of Pronto, what kind of stupid name is that for a bar? It's even a pretty stupid name for a cafe. Pronto is both bar and cafe, by the way.

Anyhow... for more on the Pronto tieup, see this story on the main channel.
