KOF 2002 Unlimited Match Set for Arcades

System Y2 board gets a more high profile title.

There are a billion KOF games out there, and it doesn't help any that the year attached to the names doesn't have any bearing on the timing of the release. What I'm trying to say is, I'm not sure if this information is totally new or not.

The SNK Playmore official site was updated on Friday with a teaser splash page for an arcade version of The King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match. The game makes use of the System Y2 arcade board and is listed at the site for a summer 2009 release.

KOF 2002 Unlimited Match was also recently in the news as part of Microsoft's Spring Press Conference last month, where it was announced for Xbox Live Arcade release. That version is on track for some time in 2010.

Check out Wikipedia for more on KOF 2002 Unlimited Match. It's unclear if the arcade and Xbox Live Arcade versions will see any differences from the PS2 original.

My database lists this as the second announced System Y2 arcade board game, following AQ Interactive's Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Jan mahjong game.
