In case you find yourself not believing all the "flying get" info that leaks out of Famitsu on Wednesdays, Gung Ho Works provided proof today that Lunar is indeed on the way to the PSP via an official site for Lunar: Harmony of Silver Star.
At first glance, the site looks darn gorgeous:
How can anything with Lunar artwork not look darn gorgeous?
Unfortunately, the site is just in a teaser state at present, with no details, and not even a trailer to show off the game's stylishly good looks.
And they are indeed stylishly good! You can see first screens at Famitsu.com. These shots are also in the magazine's print edition.
Harmony of Silver Star seems like a dream game for 2D fans, with crisp sprites and hand-drawn backdrops. This is definitely not just a cheapo port of the PlayStation and Saturn Silver Star Story remake, but a completely new remake on its own.
The visual style is different from the 32-bit remakes, with more properly proportioned characters and an isometric view. Still, the game manages to look like what one might expect of an advanced Lunar game.
Although two pages long, the Famitsu print report managed to provide only a few details on what's new for the remake. In addition to the new visuals, the game will see remastered movie scenes and sound. The story is also being fleshed out with previously untold passages detailing past events.
The battle system looks like it will benefit greatly from the game's new look. While still turn-based, with the ability to leave your ally moves up to the AI, screenshots suggest a more immersive combat experience, with characters running about the battle field and striking foes. This is something that we're going have to see in motion before fully understanding how things have changed. The Famitsu article says to pay close attention to the character movements.
Famitsu lists Harmony of Silver Star as being 62% complete. Gamearts, the original studio behind the game (also behind Grandia which I pray will be remade next!), is listed as the developer and planner. PSP owners can expect another hopefully must-have RPG this Fall.
