World Hobby Fair Summer Detailed
E3 isn't the only gaming event this June (but it is the only one I want to go to!)
I just got my summer World Hobby Fair press packet in the mail. What does that mean to you, the reader of an English language blog about the Japanese games industry? How about some vague details about an event that probably won't be all that interesting now that it's coming after E3 instead of before?
This year's summer World Hobby Fair will be held on June 20 and June 21 at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba, just outside of Tokyo. This is the same dreadful event space that houses the Tokyo Game Show and most other major video game events. The free, public event will open from 9:00 to 16:00 on each day.
Listed among exhibitors are the following game companies: Agatsuma, Electronic Arts, Capcom, Koei, Konami, Sony Computer Entertainment, Takara Tomy, Nintendo, Sega, Hudson, Namco Bandai Games, Level-5, and Pokemon.
Specific titles have yet to be announced. It's often the case that a few games end of seeing their playable debut. But don't expect any major announcements or anything.
Show organizers expect 120,000 people to attend over the two day period. This means lots of little kids whom I can step on. Woo-hoo!
For more on the upcoming event, see the official event website.
I didn't go to the most recent winter WHF event, but click here for some coverage of last year's summer event:
