Namco announces arcade Swine Flu policy

In other breaking news, Anoop seriously considers not going to Starbucks!

You've probably heard by now that Capcom has taken some strict measures to protect its employees from swine flu infection. While I don't have any details on what other Japanese companies are doing internally, Namco did issue word today on how it's dealing with things at its arcades.

According to the notice, the company hopes to stop the spread of infections by placing alcohol cleaning solutions in all its facilities and periodically cleaning game machines and counter tops with said solution.

Namco arcades will also be turning away some patrons: students. Specifically, in some regions where schools have been closed in order to prevent infection, Namco arcades will not allow students to enter their facilities.

Japan came face to face with swine flu only recently, as the first domestic case hit this past Saturday. The most recent count that I was able to find put the nation-wide case count at 267.

Most recently, a 16-year-old girl became the first reported case in Tokyo after returning from New York for a United Nations-related event.

I think I might work out of home tomorrow instead of out of the office (my local Starbucks -- lots of little, usually sick, school kids hang out there).
