Square Enix Mystery Site Hints at... Oh Screw it!

Check out Four Warriors of Light, warrior number three!

Square Enix's big teaser has been spoiled, but I'll continue to play along anyway. The countdown site was refreshed today with another new element. See if you can spot it:

A third character is now shown riding the dragon with our boy and girl duo from before. I really can't tell if the new character is a guy or a girl. Either way, we still have potential for a love triangle.

Of course, as you might have read (perhaps at IGNDS), leaked scans from Jump already spoiled this particular surprise, revealing the game in question to be Four Warriors of Light: Final Fantasy Gaiden.

The boy in the front of the dragon has just turned 14 and has been tasked by the King to save his daughter who's been kidnapped by a witch.

Jump describes the game as being a standard menu driven RPG with parties of four built up as you encounter characters along your journey to save the princess. Screens of combat reveal the presence of a "charge" command. More notably, the game does not appear to have magic, as there's no MP gauge next to your character's HP.

What's the one thing that stands out in the teaser site sketch? That's right, the dragon. Oddly, while the Jump article has a completed version of the teaser site's drawing, it doesn't say how the dragon will play a role in the game.

The game has 3D visuals and simple stylings, which seem to fit well with the character designs, credited to Akihiko Yoshida (Final Fantasy Tactics, Final Fantasy XII). It all looks pretty far along, and it may well be. Jump says the game will be released this Fall.

But before that, tomorrow will presumably see a fourth character join the group action on the dragon's back at the teaser site, with a full unveil coming on Monday.
