The Dragon Quest IX experience doesn't end with just the content that's immediately available on the cartridge. Square Enix has promised downloadable quests for players, to be provided every week for a full year after release.

The first such quest hits on Friday (July 17). Square Enix shared a first look today.

Officially quest number 121 in the game, this quest is titled Mofu Mofu Kumo (that could be translated as Fluffy Clouds). You take this quest on in Domile Village by speaking to a girl who's seen staring out towards a sea of clouds. You can only access the quest once you've reached the point in the game where you can freely enter Kades Prison.

To the left, even if you haven't met the quest giver yet, the quest information gives you a hint to where you should go. To the right, the quest giver, looking out over the clouds.

To access downloadable quests in DQIX, you need to have progressed far enough in the game so that the character of Roxetta appears at Rikka's pub. Roxetta is the girl in green who stands to the right of Rikka. Speak to her, and she'll download the latest Wi-Fi Shopping List and also your new quests.

In the event that you haven't met the conditions for accessing the quest, you'll see a message saying that you can't take on the quest yet. In the event that you haven't met the quest giver yet, the quest's title will appear as a series of question marks in your quest list.

Those who haven't picked up DQIX yet needn't worry about missing out on any of the download content. The quests will be archived, meaning they can be downloaded in bulk once you do get your copy of the game.
