The Little Battlers Expands Beyond Games

A Level-5 game goes mega media mix?

For PSP owners who have been looking forward to The Little Battlers, aka Danbol Senki, Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino brought both good news and bad news with him to today's Level-5 Vision 2009 press conference.

The bad news is that the game is no longer scheduled for release this year. Level-5 shared today a new release period of 2010.

That's it for the bad. There's actually quite a bit of good news, though, all of it concerning various promotions. The game's 2010 rlease will be accompanied by a Level-5 staple -- a television anime conversion. Level-5 will also be working with Coro Coro Comics and various game magazines on promotions. Hino did not specifically mention a manga.

Bandai representatives were on hand at the event. The toy maker will be producing plastic models based off the series. A few samples were on display for all to see today.

Level-5's official press materials list Danbol Senki as being in development for both PlayStation Portbale and Mobile platforms, the latter via Level-5's ROID portal. Only the PSP version was flagged in with a 2010 release. The mobile version appears to be on for a Winter 2009 release.

It's unclear how the two versions will differ, aside form the obvious visual differences. Both games promise customization of your LBX (Little Battler eXperience) mechs, RPG elements including exploration of town, and heated, strategic battles.
