The Lifes of Fantasy Life
Get a peak at all 20 jobs in this tag team project between Level-5 and Brownie Brown.
I know the plural of "life" is "lives." But "life," as it's used in Level-5 and Brownie Brown's new Fantasy Life, is a bit different from the dictionary word"life". So, I'm going to keep on pluralizing it as "Lifes" until I get a court order to stop.
As detailed last week, a "life" in Fantasy Life is the equivalent of a job. You start off the game by creating an avatar, setting name, gender, and looks, and finishing off by selecting the character's life. Based off the life you've selected, your play experience will change, as you'll find yourself taking on different daily quests. The game refers to these quests as "Life Quests."
Following the game's announcement, Level-5 shared this collection of character art:
Those are the various lifes that you can assign to your character. The game has 20 in all. Famitsu provided a full list in its latest issue. Here it is, loosely translated to English.
- Treasure Hunter
- Shop Owner
- Beast User
- Steel Worker
- Mercenary (soldier/assassin)
- Royal Soldier
Now here's the trick. You're going to have to figure out which job goes with which character in the above image. Level-5 provided a pic with six of the characters doing their jobs:
That should provide a hint for a few of them. Your on your own for the rest!
What exactly you do in the game is still somewhat unclear. In his introduction at Level-5 Vision, CEO Akihiro Hino said that Fantasy Life is an RPG where you don't fight battles, so you probably shouldn't expect to run around a dungeon leveling up.
There will be monsters in the game. You can see a few here:
Some players will have to fight these. The hunter life, for instance, has to hunt, so his job description requires some level of combat.
