Samurai Warriors 3 May Have Online Play

Wii entry getting more and more features as its release approaches.

Wii gets the latest in historical action, this November.

Koei has been keeping Samurai Warriors 3 in the headlines of late with the recent announcement of a final release date and a first look at the game's special Classic Controller Pro device. But the biggest news could be yet to come.

A recent retail listing for the game makes first mention of cooperative online play. As one of the game's bullet points, the listing, provided by regular leak source GMstar, writes "Set to include network functionality like cooperative play and download content."

Download content wouldn't come as a surprise, given Koei's support for its other Musou games on PSP, PS3 and Xbox 360. Cooperative play is a bit more surprising, as you'd think Koei would have mentioned it at the game's big announcement press conference last month.

Other points mentioned in the listing include an edit mode for creating an original general, the appearance of over 35 playable characters, and the game's tie-up with Nintendo's Nazo no Mura Samejou game. Of these, edit mode was previously unannounced.

These new bits have yet to be posted to the game's official site, so perhaps Koei is holding back on them to make the game remain in the headlines leading up to its November release.
