King of Fighters Shooter Set for Arcades
Unexpected genre fusion to be playable at next week's Amusement Machine Show.
Remember KOF Sky Stage? One of the more bizarre announcements from Microsoft's Spring media briefing, the title was said to be a vertical shooter featuring characters from the King of Fighters series.
All went quiet on the game following the initial announcement, but today it resurfaced. Not as an Xbox 360 Arcade title, though. KOF Sky Stage will be released this Winter to game centers, SNK Playmore revealed.
Details are still pretty scarce on the game, even with a newly opened official site. You can expect to see your favorite King of Fighters game blasting away in a vertical shooter. The gameplay promises to be a fusion of systems from fighting and shooting games.
The general public will get a chance to see what that means shortly. KOF Sky Stage will appear in playable form in the Taito booth at the upcoming Amusement Machine Show. This annual arcade event will be held this year at the Makuhari Messe from the 17th through the 19th (the first two days are business only).
