Pokemon, Monhan Hit Major Sales Milestones
Monster Hunter becomes first budget game to reach a million units.
Two big sales feats today for games with the word "Monster" in their name. Enterbrain provided flash sales stats for Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G and Pokemon Heart Gold & Soul Silver today owing to these titles crossing, respectively, the one million and two million marks in units sold.
Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G's sales mark is actually for the game's budget version. Total sales for the budget version from October 30, 2008 through September 27, 2009 stand at 1,007,098 units. Total sales for Portable 2nd G as a whole have topped the 3.5 million mark.
In case you're wondering, Famitsu.com reports that this is the first time a budget re-release has crossed the million mark.
Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver reached the 2,067,609 sales mark as of the 27th. Famitsu.com did not provide a sales split for game's two SKUs.
It took Heart Gold and Soul Silver three weeks to cross the two million mark, making it the third fastest start for a DS game. Only Dragon Quest IX and Pokemon Diamond & Pearl sold faster.
