Dragon Quest IV's Clift Appears in DQIX
Two new quests and a special guest character in this week's DLC update.
Tokyo Game Show preparations forced me to stop writing about Dragon Quest IX's weekly download content, but now that the show is over, I think I'll start up again.
The latest download content, which hit today, consists of two quests and another guest character.
The guest character is Dragon Quest IV's Clift. As with other guest characters, he will appear in Rikka's Inn when you connect to the game's Wi-Fi Shopping. He'll bring with him lots and lots of goodies.
In my time away from DQIX DCL, Rikka's Inn has been visited by a couple of other guest characters. Dragon Quest VI's Hassan saw advance availability in Square Enix's Tokyo Game Show booth -- fittingly, as the show marked the playable debut of DQVI's DS version. Dragon Quest Sword's Setia appeared last week as part of a promotion that asked 500,000 players to use Wi-Fi to send their save file to Square Enix. Hard to believe they actually reached that lofty goal!
This week's quest content includes one story quest and one standard quest.
The standard quest, quest 142, is Onegai Kanaete. You can take it on in a cave in North Easter Wollow once you've cleared the game. A spirit calling herself Sheina asks that you clear five other quests. Do so, and you'll get a very difficult-to-obtain piece of head gear. Clear the quest twice, and you'll get materials required to make some rare items.
The story quest, quest 143, Is Samayoeru Ou. You can take the quest on in the Sealed Shrine (Fuuin no Hokora) once you've cleared quest 141, which was a story quest from last week. Speak to the ghost who rests beneath the shrine, and you'll be asked to use your steal skill to steal a particular item from the S Killer Machine boss on a treasure map. Clear this quest, and you'll get a special equipment. The ghost will also get his memory back, leading new new developments in the storyline.
