KOF Sky Stage Special Move System Detailed
SNK Playmore makes a few changes.
As promised on Wednesday, the KOF Sky Stage official blog has been updated with a few gameplay details on the unexpected pairing of King of Fighters characters with vertical bullet hell shooting. While much of the information was previously learned from the game's September Amusement Machine Show build, there are a few changes of note.
Sky Stage makes use of three buttons: A for standard shot, B for super move, and C for bombs. "Archer," the blog's writer, says that the super move button is of particular importance -- in fact, it's reasonable to say that it's the biggest feature of Sky Stage.
In the AM Show version of the game, notes Archer, the super move gauge was slowly built up and could only be used when filled up. The development team has responded to player opinions from the show and have made it so that the moves are now unlimited use.
Well, almost. The special gauge can fill up to three levels. When all three levels are filled up, you can choose to unleash three level 1 specials in succession, or you can use a level 3 special and wait for the meter to refill. It apparently takes between 3 to 5 seconds for the gauge to fill up from an empty state.
So what are these special moves? The charactes all have unique moves. Samples include warping around the screen, clearing bombs, and freezing enemies.
