Kingdom Hearts and Spectrobes Developer working on DSiWare
Jupiter starts self publishing business with new puzzle game.
Nintendo's DSiWare download service seems to be making publishers out of studios that were previously known exclusively as developers. Joining Tom Create, which is working away at its third DSi Ware release, is Kyoto-based Jupiter, the studio behind such games as Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories, Spectrobes, and Mario Picross.
Jupiter announced late last week its first foray into into the publishing world through (deep breath!) "Kyoudaisei Taishi Higashida ga Kangaeta Puzzle: Hirameki Emusubi." This new puzzle game is based off puzzles from Taishi Higashida, whose puzzles also appear in the Kyoto Shimbun.
Players are presented with a play field consisting of pairs of shapes. You must connect draw lines to connect like shapes together, taking care to not cross your lines. The game lets you erase your past moves in case you mess up.
You can see first tiny screenshots of the game at a newly opened official site.
Hirameki Emusubi will be available for download on November 4. Pricing is set at 200 DSi Points. A report on Saturday from the Kyoto Shimbun states that Jupiter is aiming for 100,000 downloads.
Jupiter has additional DSiWare games in the works. A special DSiWare page from the company has slots for two undisclosed titles, one for December and one for 2010.
