Nintendo DSi LL in the Flesh

You've seen Nintendo's DSi LL renders and studio pics. You might have even seen Inside Games' hideous self-made DSi LL unit.

Now see what the heaviest current generation portable gaming system looks like in the flesh. A television station covered Nintendo's financial briefing yesterday where Nintendo prez Satoru Iwata most definitely did not label the Wii a failure. At the conference, Nintendo had a DSi LL unit set up for display beside the older DS units. It looked a little something like this:

Now here are a couple of pics showing what DSi LL looks like in comparison to a Nintendo CEO.

The DSi LL has a much larger screen compared to the standard DSi, but does not offer increased resolution. While this shouldn't come as a surprise, it appears that there's been some concern that games will look super pixelated on the LL.

In other DSi LL news, a 2channel poster posted some weight comparisons for all the various portable systems out there. My Game Flash passed along the information.

The LL does appear to be the heaviest current generation portable. But, with exception to the original DS fat, it has the best yen to gram ratio:

If you're looking for the most gram for your yen, definitely don't buy PSP go!

In still other DSi LL news, today's Nikkei has a short article covering the financial briefing. According to the paper, Iwata took the LL in hand and said that he wanted his and his wife's parents to use the new system. Just in case you were wondering if Nintendo really is targeting an older audience here.
