Japan Prefers Piano Black to Pearl White for PSP go

System sells 29,000 units in first day, according to Media Create.

Black outperforms white for PSP go.

Enterbrain shared early sales stats for PSP go early in the week. But missing from the Enterbrain data was information about which color variation sold best. Media Create came through with a rough indication today.

According to Media Create (via Gpara.com), PSP go sold around 29,000 units in its first day at retail this past Sunday. As with the Enterbrain data, which tallied the system to 28,275 units, Media Create's tracking period ends on Sundays, giving the system only one day of sales coverage.

Media Create also reports an approximately 2 to 1 split in sales between Piano Black and Pearl White, the two color variations that were available on day one.

Sony launched PSP go with a couple of major Tokyo demo events at the Yodobashi Camera in Akihabara and the Bic Camera in Ginza. Prior to launch, the manager of Akihabara's Messe Sanoh shop estimated that Sony would be shipping out 150,000 units for launch day.

Media Create's full sales stats will be shared Friday morning. Leaked figures indicate a big win for Sony hardware this week, with the PS3 outselling other consoles, and the PSP platform beating out DSi.
