Square Enix Japan Details Final Fantasy XIII Overseas Release
Japanese version still PS3 only.
Friday saw the long awaited announcement of a Final Fantasy XIII release date for markets outside of Japan. Today, Square Enix Japan briefed the local media on the announcement.
As you might have heard last week, FFXIII will hit North American and European/PAL territories on March 9, 2010. Pricing has yet to be set.
Internationally, the game will be released on Xbox 360 and PS3. Square Enix's Japanese press release includes a reminder that the domestic release is exclusively for PS3.
The domestic PS3 release is set for December 17 at ¥9,240. In addition to a standard software-only version of the game, Square Enix will be releasing a "Lightning Edition" hardware bundle that combines the game with a specially designed white PS3 system. This bundle has not been announced for release outside of Japan.
The first print run of the domestic release will also include a campaign code that can be used to unlock some sort of item or items in Final Fantasy XIV.
