First Look: One Million Ton Bara Bara
You've heard the premise, now see the latest project from Sony and Acquire.
One Million Ton Bara Bara has a unique visual style and concept. It also has a downright annoying theme song!
You can get a sampling at the game's newly opened official site.
As detailed yesterday, One Million Ton Bara Bara is the latest game to emerge from Sony's pairing of developer Acquire with the PlayStation C.A.M.P.! development program. The last game from this pairing was Yuusha no Kuse ni Namaikida (released overseas as Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman).
Your goal in the game is to destroy an invading ship. To do this, you latch on to the ship's hull and make tears in the ship. Make a tear reach from one end of the ship to the other, and a fragment of the ship will fall to the ground below. You clear a stage once you've destroyed a certain amount of the ship.
The site offers a first look at the game in motion. You can stream it here:

Also detailed at the site are the characters you'll encounter in the game.
Tetori, the main character, is shown to the left. To the right of him is Totoneru, captain of a cargo ship. The girl with the pointy shoes is Princess Asli. It appear that these characters will all attack the invading ships together, although the video does show Tetori saving Asli. Perhaps she's one of the kidnapped characters you'll have to rescue?
