BlazBlue Goes Mini on DSiWare

Chibi characters and four player play for new spin on fighting series.

BlazBlue is all set for its portable debut in February through PSP's BlazBlue Portable.

Or so we thought. Prior to that, Arc System Works will be releasing BlazBlue Battle X Battle on Nintendo's DSiware download service.

As detailed in the latest Buru Raji video podcast (thanks for the tip, Oichi... I'll be extra rough next time I see you) at NicoNico, Battle X Battle puts big headed versions of the BlazBlue characters in free roaming royal rumble fights. The game supports wireless play for up to four players.

Here are some grabs from the NicoNico feed:

The video says to expect a simple control scheme. For specifics, we'll presumably have to wait until the game is formally announced in a magazine or at the official site.

BlazBlue Battle X Battle hits DSi Ware in January. It will be priced at 500 DSi Points.

You can see the podcast for yourself here. In case you don't want to sit through forty minutes of Asami Imai, jump to around the 37 mark for footage of the game.

The podcast also has an introduction to PSP's BlazBlue Portable at the 36:38 mark. There's no footage, but this might be the game's boxart:

Continuum Shift just made it out to arcades, and with no console version of that announced, it looks like for the time being, home-based fighters are going to have to settle for DS and PSP.
