Final Fantasy XIII Broadcast Shows New Gameplay Footage

Sazh and Vanille face off against Brynhildr.

Square Enix kicked of a new phase of its Final Fantasy XIII promotional push with the airing of the game's first television special earlier today.

I didn't get to watch the Yama-chan & Non-chan's FF Academy broadcast (Yama-chan and Non-chan are comedians), but some viewers posted a couple of YouTube clips from the thirty minute show.

First up, producer Yoshinori Kitase introduces new footage showing Brynhildr emerging from Sazh. Sazh and Vanille then face off against the summon.

Sazh: Do whatever you want, beast!

Vanille: Don't die

Me: Sigh...

Sazh shouts out some insult like "Son of a bitch" or something like that at Brynhildr before the combat begins.

The announcer at the end of the clip simply introduces Brynhildr and says, "So what kind of skills will Brynhildr show in Driving Mode? Find out in the game!"

Wondering why Sazh is fighting his own summon? Summoners have to win the approval of their summons before they can be used in battle. This appears to be the first time Brynhildr has emerged from Sazh, so he apparently hasn't undergone this test.

This second clip is meant to show off the game's sound effects. It doesn't really mean much without the prior footage from the broadcast, but at least we get to see a clip of Yaag Rosch in a confrontation with his PSI-COM soldiers.

Someone grabbed still pics from the show. They're not the highest quality, but in case the YouTube clips are removed, here you go:

More FFXIII television appearances are planned for the coming week, including one hosted by Sazh himself tonight! For a schedule, see this story
