Sony Celebrates Christmas in Home
Tieups for Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil, Street Fighter, Tales of Vesperia, and more.
As reported yesterday, December represents the one year anniversary of the PlayStation Home service. Sony has some big celebrations planned both for this, and to welcome the new year.
The service first kicked off December 11, 2008. As of December 17, domestic accounts now stand at 1 million, Sony said today. Worldwide, the service has 10 million users.
Sony has two major Home offerings planned for the end of the year. The first was detailed earlier today. Final Fantasy XIII items and avatar clothing are now available for purchase. Additionally, Square Enix is giving away an FFXIII-themed Personal Space.
The other big promotion is titled "Christmas Illumination." Set in the service's main Home Square area, this event is designed in the image of a Christmas night, with snow falling and shows themed around various game properties. View the shows, and you'll receive some special "X'mas Present Reward Items."
For this event, Sony has teamed with some of the biggest names in PS3 gaming, including:
- FIFA 10 World Class Soccer
- Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker
- Tales of Vesperia
- Super Street Fighter IV
- Resident Evil 5 Alternative Edition
- Bayonetta
- Dynasty Warriors Online
- Weekly Toro Station
- Disgaea 3
- R-Type Tactics II
