New Tales Developments at Jump Festa

Download costumes for Vesperia and Graces, and first details on the next Tales fan event.

Last year's Jump Festa Tales stage offered a first glimpse at the game that would become Tales of Graces, along with a full reveal for the Namco Bandai-published Blue Dragon (which, aside from being produced by Tales series producer Hideo Baba, has nothing to do with the Tales series).

At this year's stage, held on Sunday, there weren't any new game announcements, but Namco Bandai did have contributions for two of this year's major key words: download content and crossovers.

As reported at Famitsu.com, the PS3 version of Tales of Vesperia will be getting downloadable costumes themed around various Namco Bandai franchises.

Game Jouhou! picked out the characters from the image:

  • Repede: Yakyuu-kun (Famisuta)
  • Karol : Klonoa
  • Patty: Mister Driller
  • Estelle: Valkyrie (Legend of Valkyrie)
  • Yuri: Mitsurugi (Soul Calibur)
  • Fren: Chopin (Trusty Bell)
  • Rita: Haruka (Idol Master)
  • Judith: KOS-MOS
  • Raven: ???

These will be available through PlayStation Store starting January 14.

Tales of Graces is also getting additional costumes. The Wii title already has Idol Master costumes for its female cast. A Hatsune Miku costume for pigtailed Sophie will follow on the 23rd. Joining this costume will be suits for Aspel, Hubert and Malik. Dengeki has direct feed pics of the suit costumes, which will be available for 400 WiiPoints each.

The Famitsu.com article also has looks at new costumes from Mutsumi Inomata, the game's character designer. These are set for January 20 release.

In addition to the DLC info, Namco Bandai announced preliminary details on next year's Tales of Festival. The annual fan event will be held on June 5 and June 6 at its usual location, Pacifico Yokohama.

With Graces now out, there are no new Tales games scheduled for release (unless you count the Keroro game). That will likely change in time for the Tales of Festival event.
