Retailer Lists Tecmo Koei Sales Targets

Fist of the North Star, Dead or Alive Paradise and more!

The Dead or Alive Paradise logo has flowers.

How many copies of Fist of the North Star Musou does Koei expect to sell? A retailer blog post lists a high 800,000 units just for the PS3 version.

This would actually be in line with comments shared by Tecmo Koei CEO Kenji Matsubara around the time of the game's announcement. Matsubara told the Nihon Keizai Shimbun that he expects a million copies of the game in Japan alone. This figure presumably includes both PS3 and Xbox 360 versions.

The retailer who posted this information appears to be a bit skeptical about the game reaching the 800,000 mark, noting that the license doesn't garner much of a reaction amongst people 25 and under. Additionally, having voice actors who are totally different from the old anime conversion is a minus.

He expects it to not cross Sega's Yakuza series, which would mean at most 500,000 units.

In addition to Fist of the North Star Musou, this retailer offers some insider insights on a number of upcoming Tecmo Koei titles. For Dynasty Warriors Strike force 2, sequel to the million-selling original, Koei expects at least 350,000 units, a figure the retailer expects can be crossed easily depending on the content. One problem could be timing, as the release comes about a month after God Eater, which appears to be a title to watch after its demo managed a million downloads.

For other titles, the retailer did not share Tecmo Koei's targets, but did provide information on its own order plans. Here's what this one retailer plans on stocking:

Fist of the north Star Musou: 25 to 30 copies of the standard PS3 version, 1 copy of the PS3 Treasure Box, 1 to 3 copies of the standard Xbox 360 version, and 0 copies of the Xbox 360 Treasure Box

Quantum Theory: 1 copy each of the PS3 version's standard and limited editions, 1 copy of the Xbox 360's standard version, and 0 copies of the Xbox 360's limited edition.

Nobunaga's Ambition Tendou: 3 copies of the PS3 version and 0 copies of the Xbox 360 version.

Dynasty Warriors Strikeforce 2: 30 to 40 copies to begin, but possibly more depending on pre-orders.

Dead or Alive Paradise: 3 copies of the standard version, 1 copy of the limited edition with the figure, and 1 copy of the limited edition without the figure.

Sounds like a harsh outlook on Dead or Alive Paradise! The retailer believes people want to play this time of game in HD.
