NieR Replicant Cast Announced
Xbox 360 owners have no need to read this article.
Xbox 360's NieR Gestalt has English voices. PlayStation 3's NieR Replicant has Japanese voices.
This difference is probably why Square Enix's latest NieR announcement concerns only the PlayStation 3 version of the game.
Square Enix announced today the cast of voice actors who will be powering Replicant. And here they are:
- Nier as a child: Nobuhiko Okamoto
- Nier as a teenager: Koji Yusa
- Nier's sister Yonah: Ai Nanoka
- Kaine, the half everything, : Atsuko Tanaka
- Grimoire Weiss, the talking book, : Peter
(Peter's real name is Shinnosuke Ikehata)
Hidden in this announcement is the possibly unintended revelation that Nier will appear in child form along with the teenage form we've been seeing all this time. The child Nier is, according to Square Enix, a kind and cheerful boy who cares greatly for his younger sister Yonah. He heads off on his journey once Yonah falls ill.
Of course, Nier won't be appearing in bitter middle aged adult form, as that's reserved for Gestalt.
Joining the voice actor announcement, Square Enix shared new media for the two versions of NieR today. These screens show some of what was announced last week, including fishing and farming mini games, and the village where everyone wears masks.
The voice actor announcement was accompanied by some Replicant-exclusive shots. Pro tip: you can tell they're from Replicant because the main character is young and doesn't look as blood thirsty.
